Scholars from all disciplines are invited to submit proposals for papers, panels, and special sessions for the first annual Grateful Dead Studies Association meeting, to be held in conjunction with the first meeting of the Grateful Dead area at the Popular Culture Association conference, June 2 – 5, 2021.
Note: COVID19 has unfortunately prevented this from being held in Boston, as originally planned; instead, we will convene online. Sessions will be held as part of the PCA conference, and the Association will hold its annual meeting via Zoom immediately following the conference.
All presenters must be members of the PCA. Membership in the GDSA is not required.
We are looking for papers and presentations on all aspects of the Grateful Dead’s music, cultural impact, and historical significance, and their associated contexts, including the counterculture, fan culture, the 1960s, rock poster art, and more.
The Association is interdisciplinary and welcomes contributions representing all fields and theoretical perspectives.
Abstracts are due by February 28, 2021.
Submission information may be found here.
