Posters have been a part of the Grateful Dead phenomenon since its inception, providing a visual identity and artistic analog for the music. Starting with the first academic symposium devoted to Grateful Dead studies, Unbroken Chain (2007), Grateful Dead conferences have often commissioned commemorative posters from prominent artists, most of them well known for their work for the Grateful Dead. Posters were generally printed in extremely limited numbers, between 50 and 100 copies only, for conference participants. This gallery presents those images in chronological order, along with the artists. Most of these posters are long out of print.
